Severance Towne Center

615,000 sf Power Center
Cleveland Heights, OH

Major Tenants: Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Office Max, Marshalls, Borders

Severance Towne Center is a “power-center” located on 70 acres of prime real estate in the heart of Cleveland Heights, Ohio.  An abundance of parking, approximately 3,400 spaces, serves Severance’s numerous tenants and provides easy access to the center.

Originally built in 1961 as the Cleveland area’s first regional enclosed mall, Severance has been completely renovated and reconstructed over the past five years as an open-air retail center with three wings, each serving a distinct retail need:

  • A “Power Center Wing,” comprising approximately 335,000 square feet, anchored by Home Depot, Wal-Mart, OfficeMax, Marshalls and Borders;
  • A “Convenience Wing,” comprising approximately 115,000 square feet, anchored by a 68,400 square foot Tops Supermarket and fully leased to tenants such as Blockbuster, Radio Shack, Payless ShoeSource and Foot Locker; and
  • An “Entertainment Wing” anchored by a 14-screen Regal Cinemas and a 25,000 square foot Bally Total Fitness

In 2003, the current owner, along with the City of Cleveland Heights, completed a $5MM capital improvement and beautification program in and around Severance.  Among the numerous improvements made were a completely rebuilt roadway around the center’s perimeter, new landscaping, and repaved sidewalks and bike paths.  The enhancements have greatly increased Severance’s visibility from the adjacent arterials and significantly improved the overall appearance of the center.
